Vo Van Thuong, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education delivered a speech at the 10th Congress of the Vietnam Writers' Association in Hanoi on Wednesday. 

He said, "What generations of Vietnamese writers have done make the people and Party continue to believe in the current writers as the country is entering a new phase of development. The 10^th Congress is a congress to transfer the leadership of the Vietnam Writers' Association with the hope that new factors will create new energy in management and creativity, contributing to building and developing Vietnamese culture and people.”

The Vietnam Writers' Association said it will improve Vietnam literature conferences and international poetry festivals which are held every 5 years, translate typical works, actively participate in the awards of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and activities of the Association of Asian-African-Latin American Writers, and encourage Vietnamese writers living abroad to make further contributions to national literature.

The Congress elected poet Nguyen Quang Thieu as Chairman of the Vietnam Writers’ Association. The two Vice Chairmen are poet Tran Dang Khoa and writer Nguyen Binh Phuong.
