Vietnamese, Cuban women’s unions foster bonds
(VOVworld) – Vietnam treasures the support Cuba has given Vietnam during its resistance wars and national development, said Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, Chairwoman of the Vietnam’s Women Union, during a Vietnamese delegation visit to Cuba from July 4th to 9th.

At meetings with the National Secretariat of the Cuban Women’s Unions (CWU), the Women’s Publishing House, and other agencies, Hoa stressed the importance of increasing bilateral exchanges and cooperation for mutual development. She briefed her hosts on gender development in Vietnam and on the union’s key activities and the VWU’s experience in mobilising resources to support women during Vietnam’s in economic development and international integration. She invited the CWU representatives to attend the “Women for Peace and Development” Forum, which will take place in Vietnam in October on the occasion of the 85th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Women’s Union (October 20). The Vietnamese delegation laid wreaths at President Ho Chi Minh’s memorial in Havana’s Peace Park, and met with the Vice Chairwoman of the Cuban Parliament, Ana Machado.
