(VOVworld) – The Vietnamese embassy in Thailand on Saturday held a meeting on Vietnamese people in Thailand turning to the homeland’s sea and islands.

Ambassador Nguyen Tat Thanh informed delegates of the latest developments concerning China’s illegal placement of oilrig Haiyang 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf as well as Vietnam’s persistent and resolute measures to defend national sovereignty. Cao Van San, President of the Vietnamese Association in Thailand, condemned China’s actions and reiterated their unity with the homeland.

The delegates also donated more than 10,000 USD to support people and soldiers in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa island districts.
