(VOVWORLD) - Officers and soldiers of Vietnam's Engineering Unit Rotation 2, serving with the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei, the disputed region between Sudan and South Sudan, have organized activities to welcome the Lunar New Year (Tet).

According to Major Nguyen Mau Vu, Political Commissar of the unit, as the Lunar New Year will be recognized by the UN as an official holiday starting this year, the team’s Tet celebrations will include a Chung square sticky rice cake wrapping contest, a decoration competition, a cooking festival, putting up a Neu tree, and folk games.
Vu said a security and safety plan has been in place to ensure that officers and soldiers enjoy a happy Tet together with their international friends.
