In the letter addressed to his parents, Duy wrote that he dreams of becoming a superhero called S-24/7 o fight a devil-god representing traffic accidents.

Duy’s S-24/7 superhero boasts many special abilities, including shapeshifting, faster-than-light travel, thought manipulation, but above all, his unconditional love for all things throughout the universe.

According to the Duy, the idea for the letter came from everyday situations he would see from his house near a national highway. He said he has seen numerous traffic problems in his neighborhood, including horrific accidents.

This year’s theme for the UPU International Letter-Writing Competition for Young People aged 9 to 15 was to imagine oneself as a superhero, with the mission of making all roads around the world safer for children.

Out of the millions of letters sent from around the world, organizers selected only three to win prizes.

Last year, ninth grader Nguyen Binh Nguyen of Nguyen Tri Phuong secondary school in Hanoi won the first prize at the national level, as well as a consolation prize at the international level.
