(VOVworld) – The steering committee for cooperation between Vietnam and the International Labor Organization (ILO) on sustainable employment between 2012 and 2016 convened in Hanoi on Tuesday. ILO and its partners have helped Vietnam implement a number of important projects concerning labor relations, setting the minimum wage, occupational safety, and eliminating child labor.

These projects have helped Vietnam achieve the targets set in its National Cooperation Program on Sustainable Employment. Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Doan Mau Diep said: “This meeting takes place in the context of the ILO having concluded its 2012-2013 financial year and working out plans for the next stage. ILO’s Board of Directors has approved the organization’s budget and agenda for the 2014-2015 period. The ILO will give priority to boosting employment in order to achieve comprehensive growth, increasing young people’s skills and social security, ensuring sustainable employment in rural areas, and improving working conditions in small and medium-sized enterprises. Other priority areas will include improving labor inspections and worker protection.”
