Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau said President Kovind will hold talks with Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, and meet National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. President Kovind will deliver a speech to the National Assembly, making him the second foreign leader to address Vietnam’s NA after Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Mr. Chau said since the Vietnam-India strategic partnership was upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership 2 years ago, the relationship has seen many achievements. Mutual trust has been strengthened by regular exchanges of high-level visits while national defence-security ties are a pillar of the comprehensive strategic partnership. Two-way trade rose fivefold in the past decade, totalling 9.2 billion USD in the first 10 months of this year.
