(VOVworld) – Vietnam-Japan relations will be strengthened by Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit to Japan, Mr. Trong and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told the press on Tuesday.

The two leaders stressed the need to enhance the Vietnam-Japan strategic partnership for the benefit of the two peoples, and the peace and stability of the region. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said: “I have always attached great importance to developing ties with Vietnam. Vietnam was the first country I visited after re-taking office. I am very pleased to see Vietnam-Japan relations develop in many areas based on strategic partnership. Party leader Trong and I have discussed and exchanged views on the increasingly complicated situation in the East Sea. The two sides have issued joint statements on future cooperation, focusing on the implementation of specific projects”.

Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong said Vietnam and Japan not only have a strategic partnership but are sincere friends: “The visit aims to promote this relationship through 3 main focuses: increasing political trust, promoting economic development, and boosting bilateral ties and cooperation on regional and global issues. Vietnam has appreciates Japan’s ODA support. We support Japan’s growing contribution to the peace, security, cooperation, and development of the region and the world”.
