Vietnam’s 2017 economic growth target of 6.7% to be achieved
(VOVWORLD) - Minister and Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung said Vietnam’s economic performance in the January-August period was very positive, raising hopes of obtaining the target of 6.7 percent economic growth this year.
To achieve this, Mr. Dung said, the agriculture sector must grow 3.05 percent. He noted that agro-forestry-fisheries exporters might bring home 35 billion USD compared to the forecast 33 billion USD, thanks to favorable weather. Though the mining sector has shrunk by 6.9%, the manufacturing and processing sector has grown. Service and purchasing power improved, credit grew, and interest declined. Mr. Dung said: "The Prime Minister urged faster disbursement of ODA capital and state budget by the end of this year. Vietnam has set a target of continuing to reduce the interest rate by another 0.5% and increasing credit to 21-22%. Administrative reform, investment improvement, and the review of some 5,700 business processes are the main tasks".
The Prime Minister urged key industrial cities and provinces, including Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Hai Phong, Vinh Phuc, Quang Ninh, and Bac Giang, to boost their economic growth.
