Nguyen Van Viet, Director of the Ministry’s Planning Department, said that the agriculture sector grew 3.3% this year. Consumption market continued to expand and the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products set new records.
“In 2022, the sector’s growth quality was very good with products having better quality and higher prices. We are on the right track of restructuring and implementing the Strategy for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development,” Viet said.
In 2023, the agriculture and rural development sector sets a target of 3% GDP growth and a total export turnover of 54 billion USD. Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien said that more markets will be open next year.
“The growth figures and market structure show a clear transition from agricultural production to an agricultural economy. Agriculture is shifting from "brown to green", which include control of pesticides in the fields and fertilizer quality control. We now have nearly 3 million tons of organic fertilizer. Inorganic fertilizer is strictly controlled. There is a separate management chapter in the Law on Cultivation,” according to Tien.
