At last week’s ceremony in Hanoi to launch the 'Build for the AI Future' initiative, Woo said Southeast Asia's digital economy has experienced rapid growth, expanding eight-fold in eight years, to reach 100 billion USD.
He also forecast AI will be one of the key drivers to help Vietnam achieve its goal. "Vietnam has a young and tech-savvy population, a vibrant business and startup community as well as the Government encouragement from the Ministry of Planning and Investment along with other ministries."
“In just 8 years Vietnam’s vibrant startup ecosystem has grown to more than 4,000 startups. From what we observe, the Gen Z, the younger population, is already embracing AI in their daily lives. Tools like Gemini, are being utilized by students, talents, professionals for research and academic assistance, and for coding. This demonstrates not just the readiness of AI adoption in Vietnam, but the potential for young Vietnamese to be at the forefront and shape the future of AI in this country,” said Woo.
The Google representative committed to supporting Vietnam in implementing the targets to develop digital human resources, train AI businesses, and promote Vietnam’s digital economy.
