Japan’s national broadcaster NHK said the Congress has elected leaders of the Party and shaped the policies for the next five years. The website quoted Vietnamese Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong as saying that Vietnam is committed to preventing corruption, containing the COVID-19 pandemic, and maintaining an annual economic growth of 6.5% - 7%.
Japan’s news website Jiji Press said that General Secretary Trong received overwhelming support from Party members because of his steady guidance of Vietnam towards high economic growth and COVID-19 containment.
Times Kuwait, an English daily published in Kuwait, said Vietnam is firmly stepping into 2021 with a new mindset and will soon realize the people’s aspiration to build a powerful country.
Malaysia’s New Straits Times stressed that Mr. Trong's determination to fight corruption has been supported by the majority of the Vietnamese people and Party members, and corruption prevention remains a top priority for the next tenure.
Reuters said Vietnam aims to rev up its economy in the next five years, relying on mix of free trade deals, privatization, and tight COVID-19 control. Vietnam wants to boost its role as a key manufacturing hub for global giants like Samsung and Intel, Reuters said.
Germany’s Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper also noted that Vietnam has risen economically at an almost unprecedented rate over the past few decades and that Vietnam’s success in containing COVID-19 has strengthened the party.
Egypt’s news site Dostor highlighted the success of Vietnam’s National Party Congress, whose priority for the next five years is to prevent corruption.
