As the result of higher the price of pangasius and the world's rising demand, the average export price of frozen fish fillets has increased to 3.4 USD per kg, up 0.25 USD per kg compared to January 2022.
Pangasius export value expanded by two to three digits in most major markets. After facing difficulties due to China's Zero COVID policy, the value of pangasius exports to China was up again and increased more than 163% by the end of March over the same period last year.
Vietnam’s pangasius exports to the US market also boded well, earning more than 160 million USD by the end of March. The US’s record high inflation and the Ukraine crisis fallout have driven the price hike, according to VASEP. In the European market, the export value of Vietnamese Tra fish reached 46.7 million USD in the first quarter. Experts predict that in the second quarter of 2022, Vietnam's pangasius exports to major markets will keep expanding.
