Vietnam’s rice among world’s best in 2020
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam's ST 25 rice won the second place at a contest of the world’s best in 2020, held within the framework of the 12th World Rice Conference in the US last week.

Speaking with VOV, engineer Ho Quang Cua, siad ST25 rice won the first prize at the national contest 2020. Cua said due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he only sent the rice sample to the world contest. "This is a great honor for Vietnam, especially Soc Trang. The contest organization board honored and expressed admiration with Vietnam’s efforts to promote its rice to the world market," said Ho Quang Cua.
The Organization board will visit Vietnam to present the award to engineer Ho Quang Cua.
Thailand’s Jasmine 105 came first, and Cambodia’s rice won the third prize.
ST25 is a strain developed by a group of three experts in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang. It won the first prize at the 2019 edition held in Manila.
