Vietnam's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang

Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang has commented on the US Interim National Security Strategic Guidance, saying that there have been initiatives for cooperation in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. 

“Vietnam welcomes initiatives for peace, stability and development in the region while respecting international law as well as countries’ interests and the role by the ASEAN in the regional and international structure,” said Hang.

She told the press in Hanoi on Thursday about Vietnam’s view regarding meetings of the Quad: “Vietnam is closely following regional development and situations, including foreign policies by major countries. Vietnam wishes that countries continue to contribute to peace, security and stability as well as prosperity in the region and the world, maintaining and respecting the central role by the ASEAN in the region.”
