(VOVWORLD) - Senior officials and enterprises have paid tribute to soldiers and their families to commemorate the 76th Vietnamese War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27).

On Monday, Phan Dinh Trac, head of the Party Central Committee’s Internal Affairs Commission and Dao Ngoc Dung, Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs visited the martyrs’ cemetery in Dak Lak province while National Assembly Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong offered incense at the Tra Linh Martyrs’ Cemetery in Cao Bang province.
Both delegations also visited and presented gifts to families of war invalids and martyrs, emphasizing that their predecessors’ sacrifices for the homeland’s independence and freedom were always engraved in the memory of the Party, State and people of Vietnam.
Vice Chairman Phuong asked local authorities to uphold the tradition of “remembering the source of the water we drink” by supporting policy beneficiary families.
“We are very grateful to the Party, State, and Government for taking good care of us,” Tran Thi Sen, the wife of a martyr, said.

In Hanoi, families of war invalids, martyrs and dioxin victims received gifts during a commemorative program on Sunday.
“Each generation has their own responsibilities for the Homeland. Therefore, today’s generation should not only pay attention to the present, but also follow past examples and educate the future generations to preserve their predecessors’ legacy," said Hoang Van Hung, General Director of the July 27 Company, the program’s organizer.
"With the tradition of patriotism and kindness, we will gain more achievements to repay our debt of gratitude to the martyrs,” he added.
