(VOVworld) - The Swiss Government has committed to giving Vietnam 92 million USD in non-refundable official development assistance (ODA) for high-priority projects. The commitment is part of the Vietnam-Switzerland development cooperation strategy for the 2017-2020 period, which was announced by Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment.

The capital will be invested in three main areas: to support the promotion of institutions and economic policies, to help build a competitive and effective private economic sector, and to back sustainable urban development and climate change response.
Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen The Phuong said that comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Switzerland has grown steadily, particularly in economics. He said Swiss ODA-funded projects have brought concrete benefits to many Vietnamese agencies, organizations, and people, contributing to poverty reduction and economic growth in Vietnam.
Swiss Minister of State for Economic Affairs Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen Fleisch said Switzerland will continue to help Vietnam pursue comprehensive and sustainable growth and improve living conditions. She said she hopes Switzerland’s long-term cooperation with Vietnam will continue to be fruitful.
