Its 4G network is now available with quality equivalent to 2G in more than 95% of the area within 35km of the shore. In areas up to 100km from the shore, its 4G network can still be used for Internet access and over-the-top streaming media services. About 2 million fishermen are working in Vietnamese waters, 70,000 of them offshore. 4G has facilitated up-to-date weather forecasts and search and rescue activities.

Viettel has also deployed fiber optic cables to many large island districts across the country. It uses high-capacity broadband IP microwave to deliver mobile services and the Internet to more remote islands.
