Violence escalates in Gaza
(VOVworld) - Ignoring international appeals for a cease-fire, Israel keeps speeding up its military attacks in the Gaza strip. Israeli airstrikes hit 150 targets in Gaza on Saturday alone while Hamas gunmen increased their rockets fired at Israeli territory. Saturday was considered the bloodiest day since Israel began its military campaign called “Protecting the border” last Monday, killing at least 18 Palestinian people and wounding 50, raising the total death toll to 156. Speaking on Israeli Army’s radio broadcasts, Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon said Israel has no intention to stop its airstrikes in Gaza in the coming days. He added that Tel Aviv will also deploy troops along its border with Gaza as preparation for possible ground offensive while warning Palestinian people living in northern Gaza to evacuate.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he would continue airstrikes targeting Gaza until there are no more rockets fired at Israeli territory.
