Vladimir Putin wins Russia’s presidential election

(VOVWORLD) - Independent candidate Vladimir Putin had won 87% of the votes in Russia’s election with 83% of the votes counted, the Russian Central Election Commission said on Sunday.

Coming in second was Communist Party of the Russian Federation (KPRF) candidate Nikolai Kharitonov, with 4.23% of the votes. Third was Vladislav Davankov of the New People Party, who received 4.02%. And Liberal Democratic Party candidate Leonid Slutsky got 3.16%.
In an address at his election campaign headquarters, Putin expressed his thanks to all Russian voters, saying “We are all on the same team.” He emphasized that the source of the country's strength is the Russian people and the common will of the country's people is formed from the voice of each person.
