(VOVworld)-The Chinese People’s Liberation Army has established a military garrison in Sansha city based in Phu Lam island of Hoang Sa Archipelago last Friday.

On Sunday, China held an election of the 1^st people’s congress of their so-called Sansha City. Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesman Luong Thanh Nghi on Tuesday opposed those acts, saying that they seriously violated international laws and Vietnam’s national sovereignty over Truong Sa and Hoang Sa Archipelago. These worthless activities contradict both countries’ leaders’ awareness and the bilateral agreement on the settlement of sea issues signed last October. They go against the 2002 ASEAN China Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in East Sea and complicate the situation in the East Sea. Vietnam resolutely opposed those acts by China and demands China to respect Vietnam’s national sovereignty and immediately terminate those activities for practical contribution to peace and cooperation between Vietnam and China and in the East Sea. On Tuesday, the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry sent a diplomatic note of protest to Chinese Foreign Ministry.

On Tuesday, leaders of Da Nang City and Khanh Hoa province voiced strong opposition to China’s wrongful and illegal activities which they never change the fact that Hoang Sa and Truong Sa Archipelagoes are indispensible territory of Vietnam.  Da Nang city and Khanh Hoa province strongly oppose and request China immediately stop activities violating international law and Vietnam’s law, blocking joint efforts to maintain peace and stability in the East Sea and damaging the two peoples’ friendship.
