Volume 5 of Czech-Vietnamese dictionary launched

(VOVWORLD) - The 5th volume of the Czech-Vietnamese dictionary was launched at a ceremony on Wednesday in Sapa Plaza in Prague, the Czech Republic.

Compiled by engineer Nguyen Quyet Tien, the 750-page dictionary with entries from S to U is clear and coherent.

Representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic said the dictionary is a significant contribution to strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between the two cultures.

Mr. Tien told VOV that he will begin to compile the 6th volume of the dictionary immediately after the release of Volume 5: “I will try to release the 6th volume of the Czech-Vietnamese dictionary this year to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Czech Republic. We want to contribute to the friendship between the two countries. We thank the Vietnamese government for sending us to the Czech Republic to study and the Czech people for nurturing us.”

Tien said he plans to compile a Vietnamese-Czech dictionary after completing all 6 volumes of Czech-Vietnamese dictionary, which won second prize in the Dictionary of the Year contest of the Czech Republic’s Union of Interpreters and Translators last year.
