(VOVword)- By 22hours 20 minutes Sunday, voter turnout in Vietnam reached 98.77% at the election for National Assembly and People’s Councils.

National Assembly Secretary General Nguyen Hanh Phuc said Thua Thien Hue and Yen Bai provinces have the highest vote turnout of 99.9%. He noted that the election was safe and transparent and the opening of ballot boxes and vote counting were witnessed by voters and media. Mr. Phuc added that the voting in temporary detention camps was carried out smoothly and safely.
