The Program which will run until Sunday features 118 unique Cheo performances by artists from northern provinces.
Mai Van Lang, Head of Folk Song Section, Music Department, Voice of Vietnam, said: “Over the past decades, Cheo art has always been preserved and developed. There was a time when Cheo faded away, fortunately, with Facebook and YouTube networks developing, Cheo lovers and Vietnamese people have sought to listen, deepen their understanding and learn more about Cheo singing. In the last seven years, thousands of Cheo lovers have been able to sing on stage and satisfy their passion. I see that more and more people who love Cheo are learning this art form more methodically.”
Cheo is a form of generally satirical musical theatre, often encompassing dance, traditionally performed by peasants in northern Vietnam.
