(VOV) – Radio the Voice of Vietnam and Quang Ngai Fisherman Support Fund on Saturday supported more than 19,000 USD to fisherman Nguyen Duy Nam of Duc Pho district, Quang Ngai province who had sea incident.

The money was supported from organizations and individuals in a program to support fishermen. With 19,000 USD and bank loans, Nguyen Duc Nam managed to build a ship with 150 CV horse power capacity worth around 60,000 USD for his off-shore fishing. Fisherman Nguyen Duy Nam said: "I want to express my deepest thank to the Voice of Vietnam for their support. I promise to continue to follow the sea to protect the homeland’s sea and islands. This ship can be in the sea from 15 to 17 days".

Quang Ngai Fisherman Support Fund has mobilized 1.5 million USD from organizations and individuals nationwide to support fishermen who have accidents at sea. Radio the Voice of Vietnam has had considerable contribution to the Fund. Nguyen Xuan Hue, Chairman of the Management Council of Quang Ngai Fisherman Support Fund, said: "Radio the Voice of Vietnam has been side by side with Quang Ngai fishermen. When the fishermen catch accidents at sea, VOV provided up-to-date news and called on donors and organizations to support the fishermen. The VOV has also provided financial support which is meaningful to the fishermen".
