VOV Vice President Hien told JICA’s Chief Representative Shimizu Akira at  a reception in Hanoi on Wednesday that VOV hopes for further cooperation with the Agency.

“JICA is well known for its major projects in Vietnam. VOV wants to promote JICA’s community projects as well and hope for a cooperative agreement with the Agency to convey the diversified information about JICA’s operation in Vietnam to the Vietnamese people,” Mr. Hien said.

The VOV Vice President briefed his guest on the national broadcaster’s 75 years of development and its leading position as a national multimedia, multiplatform and multilanguage media agency in Vietnam with broadcasts in 13 languages, including Japanese. He said VOV wants to promote friendship cooperation between Vietnam and Japan, emphasizing on the broadcaster’s in-depth coverage of the upcoming visit to Vietnam this month by Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide.                    

The JICA Chief Representative said JICA wants to cooperate with VOV to promote welfare and community projects so as to help Vietnam develop its healthcare, infrastructure, high-tech and tuna industries. He said the Japanese Prime Minister’s selection of Vietnam as one place of visit in his first overseas trip since taking office reflects Japan’s priority in cooperation with Southeast Asia.

“Vietnam and Japan have enjoyed close governmental cooperation and increasing ties in corporate exchanges as reflected in the Japanese business expansion in Vietnam and the increasing number of Japanese investors in the country year on year. Japanese businesses have shown an obvious trend of shifting production facilities from other countries to Vietnam,” the JICA Chief Representative said.
