(VOVworld) - Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has approved the Voice of Vietnam (VOV)’s proposal on launching a 24/7 English language channel.

He appointed the Ministry of Information and Communication to license the station’s new program in accordance with current regulations. The new channel is scheduled to go on-air by the third quarter this year. VOV’s National External Information Channel (VOV5) is currently broadcasting in Vietnamese and 11 foreign languages: English, French, Russian, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, German, Lao, Thai, Cambodian, and Indonesian.
