(VOVWORLD) -The National External Information Service Awards 2018 has been presented to 90 prominent works, including 14 works by Voice of Vietnam (VOV) journalists.

The award presentation ceremony was held in Hanoi on Friday by the Party Central Committee’s Information and Education Commission and the Central Steering Committee for External Information Service in coordination with the Vietnam News Agency and relevant parties. The event was attended by Nguyen Xuan Phuc – Politburo member and Prime Minister; Vo Van Thuong – Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, head of the Party Central Committee’s Information and Education Commission and head of the Central Steering Committee for External Information Service.
Addressing the event, Prime Minister Phuc congratulated the winning authors and praised the organizing board for their effective contributions. He said: “After 5 consecutive years, the National External Information Service Awards have been a prestigious measurement of external information quality, contributing to stronger connectivity between foreign affairs and media agencies and between Vietnam and other countries. The awards encourage reporters, editors, experts, and researchers to create better works. This year’s winning works reflect all aspects of Vietnam’s external information in a more comprehensive way and truly become a bridge linking Vietnam and the rest of the world.”

Besides high-quality entries of central press agencies like the Vietnam News Agency, the Vietnam Television, The Voice of Vietnam, the Nhan Dan newspaper and the Quan Doi Nhan Dan newspaper, the quality of entries of sectoral and local press and publishing agencies improved. Bui Truong Giang, deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Information and Education Commission, said: “Entries were diverse. The awards also attracted foreigners. Many articles and programs were interesting and impressive, helping foreign audiences understand Vietnam more comprehensively and correctly.”
The winning 90 excellent works comprise 8 first prizes, 17 second prizes, 25 third prizes and 40 consolation prizes. Among VOV’s 14 winning works, VOVworld won 5 prizes for radio, book, and e-newspaper. VOVworld’s radio program on Vietnam’s efforts to seize opportunities of the 4th Industrial Revolution was awarded the first prize.
