(VOVworld)- US National Security Adviser Susan Rice said the US remains committed to re-balancing security and economic priorities in the Asia-Pacific region and announced Obama's intention to return to Asia next April.

At Georgetown University in Washington on Thursday, Rice announced that no matter how many hot spots emerge elsewhere, there should be no questioning of the US commitment to this critical region. Rice stressed that US friends in Asia deserve, and will continue to get, the highest level of attention. This was the first important announcement by a top White House official about the administration’s Asia-Pacific policy since President Obama canceled visits to Asia and important summits in October because of a 16-day partial shutdown of the US government over debt ceiling issues.
