White House supports sanctions bill on Russia, North Korea, Iran
(VOVWORLD) - The White House said Sunday it "supports" a bill that the Congress is moving to place sanctions on Russia, North Korea and Iran. The remark came a day after lawmakers in the House and Senate announced a negotiated agreement to pass a bill aimed at preventing President Trump from unilaterally lifting sanctions on Russia.

The House will put the bill to a vote on Tuesday. If it passes, the Senate will vote before sending the bill to the President's desk for signing.
Meanwhile, President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker called an emergency meeting of the commission on Monday to discuss the EU’s response to possible new US sanctions on Russia. Juncker said Brussels must be ready to "act within days" if the US adopts new sanctions against Russia "without EU concerns being taken into account." Possible measures include seeking reassurance from President Trump that the new sanctions will not harm EU interests.
