WHO releases new strategy for COVID-19
(VOVWORLD) -The World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday announced a new strategy for COVID-19 which focuses on helping countries transition from an emergency response to long-term prevention and control of the virus.

The response strategy from now until 2025 will maintain two goals set in the previous plan: to control the spread of the disease and to provide treatment to reduce mortality and morbidity rates and long-term consequences.
A third goal of the new plan is to help countries transition from an emergency response to more sustainable, long-term COVID-19 management, control, and prevention.
The strategy was announced ahead of the WHO’s emergency meeting to determine COVID-19’s emergency status.
The WHO says the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 still exists, but the world is gradually coming out of the emergency phase of the global pandemic and it’s time to move on living with COVID-19 as an on-going health threat like other diseases.
