(VOVworld) - The National Committee for Women Advancement held a workshop in Hanoi on Thursday to discuss the role by media in encouraging women participation in National Assembly and People’s Council. Head of the Party Central Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission, Truong Thi Mai, called for breakthroughs in changing awareness and behaviors towards more gender equality while urging female participation in political activities: “The media should support and encourage women participation in the National Assembly and People’s Council elections. The Law on Elections of National Assembly and People’s Council requires at least 35% women participation in the candidate list. This can be achieved by more communications to eradicate gender prejudice.”
