Frew addressed a workshop, organized by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the British Embassy in Vietnam on Tuesday in Hanoi. The workshop was the first activity within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding in vocational education signed by the two Governments in 2022.

Ambassador Iain Frew said: 2023 marks 50 years of UK-Vietnam diplomatic relations and education has always been a key area of cooperation between the two countries. Today's workshop aims to explore areas where the UK and Vietnam can strengthen cooperation. I hope to see an action plan soon on how we can cooperate to improve the quality of vocational skills and long-term cooperation in Vietnam. I also look forward to new partnerships being established.”

Representatives of UK vocational education organizations shared lessons and experiences in promoting business participation in vocational education, promoting digital technology in online training, and developing skills for digital transformation, and quality assurance and accreditation of vocational education.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Vietnam’s General Department of Vocational Education and Training and the UK’s Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), aiming at enhancing capacity and granting international certificates in finance, management and auditing at universities and colleges in Vietnam.
