Prime Minister Chinh said that Vietnam has pledged 16 million USD between 2021 and 2023 during the bank’s largest capital increase in history. The bank is raising 13 billion USD to supplement its operation capital.
Prime Minister Chinh said that Vietnam is responsibly and actively working with the international community in responding to climate change with an approach to ensure fairness and justice. Vietnam deems it one of the key and urgent tasks and also the opportunity to transform the development model and build a green, sustainable, circular, and low carbon energy transition industry.
The Prime Minister suggested that the WB continues to support Vietnam in climate change adaptation with two approaches: safe and flexible adaptation and reduction of carbon and methane emissions in agriculture.
Axel emphasized that he will continue to accompany the Vietnamese Government in the upcoming development journey not only in the financial sector, but also in solving strategic issues such as improving the capacity of the health system, responding to diseases and adapting to climate change. He added that the World Bank is ready to send a team of global experts to support the Vietnamese Government in developing Report 2045, thus contributing to the goal of making Vietnam a developed, high-income country by 2045.
