World condemns bombing in Lebanon
The U.N. Security Council condemned a bomb attack on Friday that killed 8 people, including senior Lebanese intelligence official Wissam al-Hassan, and injured 96.

The 15 members of the Security Council reiterated their condemnation of any attempt to destabilize Lebanon through political assassinations and demanded an immediate end to the use of intimidation and violence against political figures. United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called on Lebanese government to conduct a large-scale investigation and urge all factions in the country to refrain from violent acts. Ban conveys his condolences to the families of the victims, and to the Government and people of Lebanon. The US Secretary of State’s spokesperson Victoria Nuland denounced the bomb attack, calling it a terrorist act. French President Francois Hollande urged Lebanese officials to safeguard the country from any attempts to destabilize Lebanon.
