(VOVworld) - UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Friday strongly condemned a car bomb at a business district in Beirut, Lebanon, killing former Finance Minister Mohammad Chattah and at least five others and injuring more than 70 people.
Ban urged all parties involved to act with restraint and to support security forces in protecting Lebanese stability from terrorist threats and from the impact of the crisis in neighboring Syria.
In their press statement, 15 members of the UN Security Council criticized any attempt to destabilize Lebanon via political assassinations and demanded an immediate end to intimidation and violence against politicians. They also underscored the importance of bringing to justice those responsible for the terrorist act.
