Leaders from around the world sent congratulatory messages to India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the successful 17th Lok Sabha (House of the People) election on Thursday.
Russian President Vladimir Putin wrote that he believe the Prime Minister will further strengthen the centuries-old friendship between Russia and India.
Chinese President Xi Jinping noted the importance he attaches to India-China relations and said he wants to work with Modi to take the partnership between the two countries to a new height.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lauded PM Modi's mandate, saying the election results reaffirmed Modi’s leadership of the world's largest democracy.
In his message, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc congratulated the Bharatiya Janata Party and the National Democratic Alliance for their victory in the election. He voiced his hope that under the leadership of PM Modi, the government and people of India will gain even more impressive achievements.
Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party won 348 of 542 seats in Lok Sabha.
