World leaders congratulate new UK PM
(VOVWORLD) - French President Emmanuel Macron and newly elected European Committee President Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday congratulated Mr. Boris Johnson for becoming the next leader of British Conservative Party and the UK Prime Minister.

Mr. Macron said he hopes to cooperate with Mr. Johnson on Brexit, the UK-Iran tension, and other international issues. The French President office said President Macron will have a phone discussion with the new UK Prime Minister in a few days.
EU Chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier said the EU is ready to work with Prime Minister Johnson toward an ordered Brexit and may renegotiate a political statement that goes along with the divorce agreement.
US President Donald Trump the same day delivered his congratulations and said he believes Mr. Johnson will do well in his tenure.
Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said she will do her utmost to make sure Mr. Johnson respects Scotland’s interest.
