(VOVworld) – German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday congratulated Trump on his victory and expressed hope of maintaining close cooperation between Germany and the US. British Prime Minister Theresa May sent her congratulations to Trump and said Britain and the US will remain strong and close partners on trade, security, and defense.

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, President of Cuba Raul Castro, President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman, President of Finland Sauli Niinistö, Prime Minister of Belgium Charles Michel, Prime Minister of Italy Matteo Renzi, Prime Minister of Australia Malcolm Turnbull, and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau offered congratulatory statements to Donald Trump. They said they hope to work with the Trump administration and the US Congress on trade, investment, security, and world peace.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala congratulated Trump and said it hopes Washington will adopt a more positive view on the contribution of migrants to the US.
President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte sent his regards in an official statement to Donald Trump, saying he hopes for a new start for relations between with the US. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the US election results will have no effect on Tehran's policies.
