World leaders congratulateJoe Biden on his election win

Canadian Prime Minister Justic Trudeau was one of the first leaders sending congratulations to Joe Biden. He tweeted: “Congratulations, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Our two countries are close friends, partners, and allies. We share a relationship that’s unique on the world stage. I’m really looking forward to working together and building on that with you both.”

Sending congratulations to Biden, Chilean President Sebastian Pinera called the Democratic candidate the US President elect  and said Chile and the US share many values, such as freedom and the defense of human rights, and challenges like the commitment for peace and the protection of the environment.

Colombian leader Ivan Duque said in a message that he is committed to working "to strengthen the common agenda in trade, environment, security and the fight against transnational crime," with the new administration. 

Argentina's President Alberto Fernandez hailed the record turnout in the elections, calling the results "a clear expression of the popular will."

"Greetings to Joe Biden, next president of the United States, and Kamala Harris, who will be the first female vice president of that country," Fernandez tweeted.

Uruguay's President Luis Lacalle Pou also congratulated the Democratic leader: "We will work to strengthen relations between our countries for the good of our people.”

Leaders of European countries have also congratulated Joe Biden on his election win.  President of the European Council Charles Michel tweeted that the EU is ready to engage for a strong transatlantic partnership wih the US.

French President  Emmanuel Macron wrote: “ The Americans have chosen their President. Congratulations to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. We have a lot to do to overcome todaty’s challenges. Let’s work together.”

In a message to President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: ‘The US is our most important ally and I look forward to working closely together on our shared priorities, from climate change to trade and security.’

German Chancellor Angela Merkel hailed Joe Biden's projected win as a step forward in trans-Atlantic relations. "I look forward to working with President Biden. Our trans-Atlantic friendship is indispensable if we are to deal with the major challenges of our time," she said in statement.

Leaders of other European countries including Italy, Spain, the Republic of Ireland and President of the European Committee Ursula von der Leyen have sent congratulations to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

On his twitter account on Sunday, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison wrote: "Congratulations ot Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Australia wishes you every success in office. The Australia-US Alliance is deep and enduring, and built on shared values. I look forward to working with you closely as we face the world’s many challenges together.”

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said Venezuela is ready to dialogue and promote mutual understanding with the new US government and American people.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in sent a congratulatory message to US President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, expressing expectations for joint efforts to develop Seoul-Washington ties.
"Congratulations to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Our alliance is strong and the bond between our two countries is rock-solid," Moon wrote on Twitter.
"I very much look forward to working with you for our shared values," Moon added. "I have great expectations of advancing and opening up the future development of our bilateral relations."

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga on Sunday congratulated Democrat Joe Biden on being elected the next U.S. president and expressed a desire to enhance bilateral ties.

"I look forward to working with you to further strengthen the Japan-US Alliance and ensure peace, freedom, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond," Suga said in a Twitter post.
