(VOVworld) – The world is moving toward a sustainable future with prosperity and happiness for all. UN Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson was addressing a General Assembly debate on post-2015 development agenda.

Eliasson reminded delegates that 2015 will mark “three major milestones” – the Third International Conference on Financing for Development to be held in Ethiopia in July; the post-2015 summit scheduled for New York in September; and a critical UN climate conference set for December in Paris. This year also marks the wrap-up of the landmark UN Millennium Development Goals, which world leaders agreed on 15 years ago. The global poverty rate has been cut in half well ahead of the 2015 deadline and there have been encouraging results in the fight against diseases and inequality.
