World reacts to military coup in Burkina Faso
(VOVWORLD) - UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Tuesday that the military coup in Burkina Faso to oust President Roch Kabore is unacceptable. The role of the military is to defend its country and people, not to attack its government and fight for power, Guterres said.

French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the coup in Burkina Faso and said he plans to hold talks on the matter with regional leaders. Tensions have eased, he added.
Ravina Shamdasani, spokesperson for the UN Human Rights Office, call on the military to immediately release President Kabore and other high-level officials who have been detained.
Tunisia's national airline TunisAir has suspended flights to and from Burkina Faso’s capital Ouagadougou until further notice.
Earlier on Tuesday, Burkina Faso’s military announced that it had overthrown President Roch Kabore, suspended Burkina Faso’s Constitution, dissolved the government and parliament, and closed land and air borders. The Patriotic Movement for Safeguard and Restoration (MPSR) led by Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, which carried out the military coup, is taking control of Burkina Faso. The MPSR has promised a return to constitutional order "within a reasonable time frame”, and said a night curfew will be in effect from 9pm to 5am every night.
