Writing contest on Vietnam-Indonesia relations launched
(VOVWORLD) - A writing contest on President Ho Chi Minh’s first visit to Indonesia and Indonesian President Sukarno’s visit to Vietnam in 1959 has been launched by the Voice of Vietnam in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi.
The contest marks the 60th anniversary of the historic visits and anticipates 65 years of Vietnam-Indonesia diplomatic ties.
Director of VOV’s International Cooperation Department, Nguyen Thuy Hoa, said the contest is designed to help Vietnamese and Indonesian people better understand the importance of the visits which laid the foundation for bilateral relations.
“In 1959 Indonesia was the first Southeast Asian nation that President HCM paid an official visit to. Vietnam was the final leg of Indonesian President Sukarno’s overseas tour the same year. There were many touching stories during the visits. The contest aims to recall the good relationship built by the two Presidents and make it further prosper.”
The deadline for entries will be December 15. The winner will receive a cash prize worth 1 million rupiah (nearly 70 USD) and a gemstone painting featuring President Ho Chi Minh, along with a trip to Hanoi later this year.
