Wushu athletes win first 2 gold medals for Vietnam at SEA Games 29
(VOVWORLD) - Wushu athletes won Vietnam’s first gold medals at the 2017 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 29).

Duong Thuy Vy finished first in the women’s jianshu (sword) event on Sunday while Hoang Thi Phuong Giang successfully defended her gold medal in the women's gunshu (cudgel) event.

The 2 athletes were rewarded immediately after their victories by Tran Duc Phan, Deputy Head of the Vietnam Sports Administration and Head of the Vietnamese delegation to the Games. By Sunday afternoon, Vietnam ranked 5th in the medal tally with 2 golds, 3 silvers, and 1 bronze. Host Malaysia topped the tally with 13 gold medals.
