(VOVWORLD) -Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said Sunday that the Chinese Communist Party must always strive to reform itself on the path ahead.

Xi told a press conference at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing that the revolutionary cause and endurance of the past century, especially the first decade of the new millennium, made the Chinese Communist Party stronger and more dynamic.
He called on party members to always be ready and cautious to face challenges and difficulties ahead. Xi affirmed that the Chinese Communist Party should always "act for the people and rely on the people" and "will continue to make efforts to realize the people's aspiration for a better life."
He also said that China will carry out far-reaching reforms and open up further to the world, promoting high-quality development.
China will "work with other peoples of the world to fight for the common human values of peace, development, justice, democracy and freedom," Party General Secretary Xi stressed.
