(VOVworld) – A conference, entitled “Ho Chi Minh City-40 years of building, development, and integration”, was held on Tuesday to mark the 40th anniversary of the South's Liberation Day on April 30th.

Participants agreed that in 40 years HCM City has actively developed its economy and society, making it the driving force of the national economy and affirming its key role in the southern economic hub.
The city’s GDP accounts for 21% of the country’s total and contributes 30% to the state budget.
Le Thanh Hai, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, said: “we have been fully aware of the Party guidelines, closely followed practical changes to look for ways to deal with new arising issues, ceaselessly renewed ways of thinking, and readily piloted new models. HCM City has paid great attention to improving people’s living conditions. Realizing the city’s important role and position, the municipal authorities have boosted socio-economic cooperation with the provinces and cities across the country towards rapid but sustainable growth.”
