(VOVworld) – A ceremony was held in Vinh Yen City, Vinh Phuc province on Saturday, to present the 2016 Innovative Youth Festival Awards.

The annual event organized by Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union aims to encourage youngsters’ creativeness in science and technology and honor individuals and collectives nationwide for their outstanding inventions.

At this year’s festival, 219 works were nominated by 44 provincial and city Youth Unions.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga, a lecturer of the Vietnam Military Medical Academy, talked about her project:

“My project is based on a fact that many children suffering from spinal muscular atrophy which is a hereditary disease. Three fourths of child patients die before 10 years old. With this project, we hope that the couples with mutant genes will have healthy babies. My project has been strongly responded by leaders of the Ministry of Defense and my Academy.”

Nguyen Anh Tuan, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, addressed at the ceremony: “We believe that with the intellectual, creativeness, and enthusiasm of the youth, young Vietnamese  will open a new chapter of national development through their innovations, practical contributions, and readiness to fulfill the assigned missions. We’ll accompany you in realizing your ideas and duplicating role models.”
