(VOVworld) – Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh highlighted the importance of promoting Vietnam as a safe, friendly, and quality destination on the Sunday TV program “People Ask, Minister Answers”.

According to Minister Hoang Tuan Anh, between January and July, the tourism sector catered for nearly 4.9 million foreigners, up 16 percent from same period last year. The sector has served 17 million domestic tourists, up 7 percent from last year. Mr. Anh said the Ministry has deployed measures to speed up the growth of the Vietnamese tourism sector in the remaining months of the year:“The most important thing is to popularize Vietnam as a safe, friendly, and quality destination. The Vietnamese tourism sector should expand into new markets and not depend on existing markets. The tourism sector needs to beef up its promotional activities to attract more domestic tourists.”

Mr. Anh urged Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism nationwide to support businesses in introducing and popularizing Vietnam’s image as one the 20 most attractive tourist destinations in the world.
