(VOVworld) – Vietnam will propose to the UN Human Rights Council the promoting of the rights of vulnerable groups and protecting them from the effects of climate change, environmental degradation, and overexploitation of natural resources. This, one of Vietnam’s top priorities on human rights, was revealed by Hoang Chi Trung, Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department for International Organizations, to reporters on the occasion of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh attending the 25^th session of the UN Human Rights Council.

Trung said Vietnam promises to be active and responsible in all activities, which conforms with its international integration policy.

Other top priorities in human rights, some of which were discussed at the summit, include poverty reduction, minimizing the harmful effect of foreign loans on human rights, and the fight against violence and the trafficking of children.

Vietnam will pursue constructive, respectful dialogues with other council members and a comprehensive approach to human rights in all aspects. This is Vietnam’s effort to make a success of the 25^th summit, which is seeing Vietnam’s first participation as a council member.
