(VOVworld) – A ceremony will be held at Phu Quoc International Airport in Kien Giang province this Sunday to welcome Vietnam’s 10 millionth foreign tourist.

Foreign visitors arrive at Phu Quoc International Airport

The visitor will land at Phu Quoc Airport on Vietnam Airlines flight VN1815. The previous and next tourists will also be presented with a medal and souvenir. The three foreign visitors will fly to Phu Quoc on the same flight on the occasion of the 2017 New Year.

The number of international tourist arrivals to Vietnam increased 25% in 2016. The sector served 62 million domestic tourists and earned total revenues of 18 billion USD, said Nguyen Van Tuan, Head of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

“Vietnam’s target for 2017 is to maintain the current growth rate and make breakthroughs, first of all in policy. Sound policies will help us achieve our goals,” said Tuan.

In 2017, Vietnam’s tourism aims to lure 11.5 million international tourists, serve 66 million domestic visitors, and earn 20 billion USD in revenue.
